Most people are not aware that mental health struggles are the number 1 complication of pregnancy. In fact, as many as 1 in 7 women will struggle and even 1 in 10 men. A woman can begin showing signs even prior to giving birth and if left untreated, the impact of Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs) can impact the entire family. In fact, untreated maternal mental health is the number one predictor of future behavioral, emotional and cognitive development in children.
Our focus at WHI of Arizona is to provide best-practice services for the prevention, early intervention, and treatment for all women and families impacted by Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMAD's). We specialize in recognizing the signs and severity for each individual and are uniquely qualified to recommend the best course of treatment. Plus, our professional team has extensive training in treating trauma, substance use disorders, mood disorders and grief which are sometimes associated with the onset of a PMAD.
